Regé-Jean Page (born 24 January 1988) is an English actor. He is known for playing Chicken George in the 2016 miniseries Roots, and was a regular cast member on the ABC legal drama For the People from 2018 to 2019. In 2020, Page starred in season one of the Netflix period drama Bridgerton as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings for which he won the Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series NAACP Image Award. In February 2021, Page was recognised in Time magazine's 100 Next list under the category of Phenoms with a profile written by Shonda Rhimes. In September 2021, Page made his first public appearance with his girlfriend, Emily Brown. Regé-Jean Page captivated audiences around the world with his breakout performance as the 'Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings' in Netflix's Emmy-nominated drama series "Bridgerton." Page has garnered individual award nominations from the Emmy Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Black Reel Awards for Television, the Satellite Awards, and the TV Choice Awards, and he won trophies in his respective categories at the MTV Movie & TV Awards and the NAACP. On the big screen, Page appeared alongside Nnamdi Asomugha and Tessa Thompson in Amazon's Emmy-nominated, jazz-era romance feature "Sylvie's Love." Upcoming, Page will co-star in Paramount Pictures' "Dungeons and Dragons" and Netflix's "The Gray Man." Page will star in and executive produce Paramount's reboot of "The Saint" as well as Noah Hawley's untitled heist film for Netflix and Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO. He is also a featured voice cast member of the audio book adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman: Act II" from DC and Audible. Page's previous television credits include the Shonda Rhimes series "For The People," Emmy-nominated mini-series "Roots," "Spark,""Waterloo Road," and "Fresh Meat." In film, Page has previously appeared in Peter Jackson's "Mortal Engines" and James McTeigue's "Survivor." His stage credits include "The Merchant Of Venice" and "The History Boys." Page was recently honored on the 2021 TIME100 Next list, the magazine's annual list of individuals who are shaping the future of their fields and defining the next generation of leadership. In February 2021, Page made his debut hosting "Saturday Night Live." In 2017, Page was named one of Variety's top 10 TV Stars to Watch.
